Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work on a farm? Have you always wanted a large garden but don’t have the space? Or would you like a day out of the office to spend time in the sunshine and bond with your co-workers?
Greater Newark Conservancy relies on the assistance of the many kind volunteers who take time out of their busy lives to help us at our farms and gardens. So whether you just want to get out in the fresh air and help, or you want a fun and meaningful team building activity for you and your co-workers, we can use your help!
A typical volunteer day might include: planting, weeding, mulching, building raised beds, compost work, and more. Don’t have a green thumb? No worries! No experience necessary—our professional staff will show you the ropes!
Volunteer opportunities are available at the Hawthorne Avenue Farm (Wednesdays & Thursdays 9am-12pm) and our Urban Environmental Center (Fridays 9am-2pm). Due to COVID-19 our volunteer protocols have changed. Please review the protocols here and be sure to complete the pre-screening volunteer survey at least 48-72 hours before your desired volunteer opportunity to ensure your participation.
Participants must be 14 years of age or older.
Individuals and groups are welcome, however, each individual in the group must complete their own pre-screening survey. Please email Michele if you'd like to volunteer as a group.
Remember to bring a reusable water bottle, to wear gardening clothes, and closed-toe shoes!
For other volunteer opportunities, please fill out our Group Volunteer Application or contact Michele Robinson.
