PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19, and for the safety of our community and staff, we have revised our Plot It Fresh protocols. Until further notice, Plot It Fresh gardeners must make an appointment to tend their plots; no more than five Plot It Fresh gardeners will be allowed at the Hawthorne Avenue Farm at one time; all gardeners must wear masks covering their mouth & nose; everyone must maintain strict social distancing rules.
To make an appointment please email Sophie.

Plant your own productive vegetable garden to nourish your body as well as your spirit!
By adopting one of our garden plots, community members can spend time outside in the sunshine, work with their hands and their community to produce beautiful—and bountiful—fresh food gardens. For an annual rental fee, our Plot It Fresh program provides local residents with gardening and farming education, as well as access to gardening space in Newark. As part of the Plot It Fresh programs, gardeners receive startup materials, such as seeds, technical gardening assistance, and access to educational workshops.
In addition to the immediate benefit of learning new skills in farming, Plot It Fresh members will be able to provide healthy, fresh produce fresh for their family while saving on their grocery budget—a gratifying experience all around!
