Join Plot It Fresh
Grow your own fruits and vegetables through our Plot It Fresh program, Newark’s biggest community garden. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or an eager beginner, anyone can take advantage of the Plot It Fresh Community Gardens. Plots come with seeds, access to tools, and technical assistance so everyone in share in growing something amazing!
The Plot It Fresh season runs from March 15 through November 15, weather permitting. The Hawthorne Avenue Farm site will be accessible during set hours when a staff member is present and the site will be closed for Observed Holidays. The Smith Street site is open dawn to dusk.

Join the Plot It Fresh community garden program by attending this mandatory informational meeting at the Conservancy’s main office at 32 Prince Street. During the meeting, we will discuss program rules and regulations; take your Garden ID photo; and collect applications and annual fees. If you cannot make the meeting, schedule an appointment by emailing email@example.com.
This registration event is for the Hawthorne Avenue Farm and Smith Street locations. Plots are first come, first served. Preference is given to Newark residents.
Please bring the following items to the registration event:
- $15 annual garden fee
- Pre-filled application
- Photo ID (e.g. drivers license, passport)
Be prepared to have your photo taken for your Garden ID.
